The Lumber Baron Bar was part of the original design of the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, serving as “a very elegant watering hole for the local businessmen.” The name pays homage to Grand Rapids’ rich lumber industry heritage, as Grand Rapids became a major lumbering center in the late 19th century, processing logs that were floated down the Grand River.
