Pathify’s chatbot obtains verified answers by directly accessing institutional systems (like the SIS or LMS), avoiding the potential inaccuracies of GPT models that might generate plausible, unverified responses. Our chatbot focuses solely on institutional content, ensuring data confidentiality and implementing safeguards to prevent fabricated answers.

Additionally, Pathify is working closely with Google, leveraging the Vertex AI platform. Pathify chose to partner with Google largely because it shares Pathify’s goal of using responsible AI.

Pathify’s bot is backed by the stable release of the latest Google models and remains in its original, balanced state without additional training on customer or Pathify-specific data. Pathify’s chabot focuses on providing context on a per-question basis to maintain the bot’s broad capability of answering a wide range of inquiries.

This approach ensures the chatbot remains versatile and effective. In short, the bot relies on context management to achieve response relevance.

The bot will not store or share any sensitive information pertaining to an institution’s constituents or systems. Pathify’s bot guarantees user data privacy by adhering to strict data protection protocols and never sharing information with third-party entities like Google, ensuring all data remains confidential and secure.

The bot will use explicitly targeted and whitelisted websites as declared in the Admin Center — the same content which shows up in Pathify’s search bar as External Resources.

The chatbot also searches and retrieves information from FAQs, events and calendars, tools, pages and other portal content, dynamically crawling these resources to provide accurate responses. The chatbot also searches across connected providers, including the Student Information System (SIS) and Learning Management System (LMS).

Under the current architecture, the bot will not go to the internet to perform a live search while evaluating a query.

Pathify’s chatbot displays two distinct verification icons — one indicates the answer is based on provided data sources (Pages, FAQs, external sources) but may still be subject to inaccuracy while the other confirms the information is sourced directly from connected, verifiable sources (SIS, LMS).

The chatbot can be configured with a profile picture, name and welcome message. It will also pick up an institution’s branding and light/dark mode preference from the authenticated individual.

Institutions can further customize the chatbot’s behavior to match their specific needs and content structure. Within the Admin Center, Admins may adjust how the chatbot responds to different inquiries with various settings. This interface allows Admins to see which content sources are considered and how they influence the chatbot’s response.

The bot connects with Pathify’s fast-growing list of integrations with higher ed’s most popular systems to display information like balances, holds, grades or GPA, schedules, assignments and more. Pathify also provides access to Flow so institutions can easily connect the bot with information housed in any system.

Chatbot data is sortable by time sequence, role and is downloadable for deeper analysis. The chatbot offers real-time insights into user interactions, including:
