Modernizing Digital Experiences
Salve Regina Removes Bottlenecks and Enhances Security

According to Christine Dumont, Senior Director of Enterprise Applications at Salve Regina University, IT projects often revolve around administrative needs rather than focusing on student success. However, she believes optimizing business efficiency and student experience go hand in hand. Her commitment to enhancing the student experience led Salve Regina to Pathify — a platform with a modern interface and seamless user experience — far surpassing the institution’s outdated SharePoint portal. With Pathify’s intuitive design and native mobile capabilities, Dumont and her team saw an opportunity to transform campus engagement. The decision to switch from SharePoint to Pathify proved easy — and they haven’t looked back since.

Out With the Old
Salve Regina’s previous SharePoint portal presented numerous challenges. Without dedicated administrators, Dumont and her team struggled to troubleshoot issues or restore service during unexpected outages. These disruptions prevented staff and students from accessing important resources and tools.
SharePoint also created a bottleneck for departments across campus. Because only IT had permission to publish resources, staff faced long wait times for updates, and the volume of requests strained Dumont’s team. “Our time is already in high demand,” she said. “You had to know how to navigate the portal system, set up the HTML template and put the page in the right group. We couldn’t keep up with the requests from across campus.”
Students felt the impacts too. The old portal served primarily as a pathway to Ellucian products and deeper administrative tasks, lacking a modern digital experience. Pathify, on the other hand, offered simplicity, security and a sleek user interface. “I thought it was a fresh modern take on a student portal that combined the security we needed with a standardized single sign-on pathway to our other applications,” Dumont said.

Meeting Student and Faculty Needs
With Pathify Pages’ configurable templates and Role-based permissions, IT put content management back in the hands of individual departments. No more bottlenecks — now, content stays updated, allowing IT to focus on other priorities. “People don’t have to call IT for webpage or website updates,” Dumont said. “As long as we set up security and visibility properly, [our employees] manage their own content and messaging. That’s empowering.”
Moving to Pathify also bolstered Salve Regina’s security protocols. Utilizing single sign-on (SSO), Pathify’s Engagement Hub provided the convenience of a single portal and the security Salve Regina needed. To top things off, IT rests easy knowing Pathify frequently rolls out updates and new features — ensuring the platform evolves alongside Salve Regina’s needs.
“By the time a feature moves through development to release, it’s solid,” Dumont said. “We’re not working with features that haven’t been well-tested.”

What’s Next

Looking ahead, Salve plans to re-examine user provisioning and enhance dashboard customization for users. Additionally, Pathways will enable them to create goal-oriented sequences of tasks designed to guide users toward completing a specific objective.
With Pathify, Salve Regina no longer limits itself to outdated user experiences and cumbersome content management — instead, its Pathify-powered student portal evolves to meet students’ needs.
