Concordia University Irvine Engages Students with a Pathify-powered Mobile App

Quick Summary:
Concordia University Irvine (CUI) partnered with Pathify to launch MyCUI, a unified student portal and mobile app, addressing their need for a reliable way to engage students.
The Pathify-powered solution provided CUI with a customized, mobile-first app offering one-click access to essential systems, personalized communication through role-based technology, and sophisticated analytics to understand student needs.
MyCUI successfully increased student engagement and satisfaction by unifying existing technology, consolidating communications, and modernizing the digital experience, ultimately empowering CUI to achieve more with fewer resources.
Without a student portal and mobile app, Concordia University Irvine lacked a reliable way to engage students. Disjointed point solutions like an incomplete link farm and Google Chrome bookmarks didn’t have the functionality Concordia needed to personalize communication and reach students on their mobile devices. Amidst resourcing constraints and pressure to launch a student portal quickly, they struggled to find a vendor who met all their needs. Pathify’s Engagement Hub equipped Concordia with MyCUI, their seamless, unified portal and mobile app.

Seamless, Mobile-first Solutions
- Customized Mobile App: Pathify’s secure, personalized hub gave students and staff one-click access to the systems they use everyday, with complete parity between devices. Students pay balances, check email or announcements, connect to peers and services and more — all from the same app. “Pathify offered us much more than a portal. It enabled us to customize the app to our unique needs,” Lee said. “For example, one third of our students are athletes, so we added an athletics widget to the Dashboard to surface events and keep our community connected.”
- Personalized Communication: Concordia leveraged Pathify’s role-based technology to customize and target communications to specific audiences. “We want to keep noise to a minimum, surfacing the information students need without overwhelming them,” Lee said. “The ability to segment different user audiences makes Pathify our go-to tool.” When Concordia noticed students opening MyCUI to access their Digital ID during mealtimes, they scheduled notifications during those high-traffic times to capture students’ attention.
- Sophisticated Analytics: Pathify’s built-in Analytics surface key metrics such as frequent keyword searches, enabling Concordia to consolidate information for quicker searches and to understand what answers students struggle to find. “Pathify Analytics empower us to make strategic changes and improvements. We see what keywords students are searching for and then work with the right teams to surface resources accordingly,” Lee explained.

Unifying Technology to Engage Students
Pathify’s Engagement Hub offered a comprehensive solution to the communication and system challenges at GVNow, Concordia students miss fewer messages than before, with personalized push notifications they view on their mobile device. Pathify’s modern, user-friendly native mobile design increased student engagement and satisfaction with their digital experience. “Students prefer mobile phones because they already use their phones all the time. We put the info they need most right in front of them,” said Lee.
Pathify equipped Concordia with a single solution to unify existing technology, consolidate communications and modernize user experience — empowering them to do more, with fewer resources. “The ability to update everything in one place removes a significant burden from our lean team. Students use mobile and employees use desktop — complete parity between devices means we only update information once.”
