MyUSU Growth Insights & Pathways to Success

At Utah State University, the MyUSU engagement hub serves as a crucial touchpoint for students, faculty and staff — delivering personalized experiences, driving engagement and promoting success. Launched in August 2021, MyUSU quickly became USU’s central digital hub. Led by Rene Eborn, Tessa Evans and Calissa Chandler, university initiatives yielded significant growth as detailed in USU’s third annual report

Data-Driven Decision Making

The report, intended to track engagement and plan for future developments, played a key role in driving MyUSU forward. “We pull a ton of data from within Pathify and also our content calendar, intending to see what we need to work on and what we can do better,” explained Chandler, Utah State’s MyUSU Coordinator. Utilizing data, the team develops a portal roadmap to boost usability and increase adoption across various campus communities.

Over the last year, the MyUSU team invested heavily in understanding and improving Group engagement — providing the right balance of autonomy and governance over organization, administrator permissions and ways to promote member engagement and buy-in.

The Future is Mobile

The team highlighted significant increases in mobile sessions and usage, largely attributed to the strategic integration of MyUSU into freshman orientation. In-person marketing campaigns also drove MyUSU’s visibility across campus. Despite the portal’s digital focus, Evans, Utah State’s Marketing & Project Manager, emphasized wanting “to ensure we had a strong in-person presence, too.” Events like a Welcome Back Fair and Quad Day encouraged students, faculty and staff to download the MyUSU app, driving a 37% increase in mobile portal app usage.

Looking Ahead

As MyUSU continues evolving, a major focus involves expanding the platform’s reach. Plans for 2025 include enhancing the Places Directory, implementing Forms, introducing new employee widgets, and enriching Group and Event features. “I’m really proud of the way our team continually expands and improves the platform each year — not only for students but for faculty and staff — and those niche, unique groups on campus,” Evans said.
As AVP of Digital Transformation and Enterprise Systems & Security, Eborn expressed pride in USU’s leadership for prioritizing the digital student experience. “With Pathify, we’ve met some of our university goals around modernizing and transforming our student experiences, helping create engagement.
